A Place to Call Home
For a long time, our community existed in borrowed spaces—cafes, parks, and rented rooms. But we always dreamed of having a place of our own. In January 2024, that dream became a reality. We found our home: a community center just a short walk from Gwanggyo Station.
To celebrate, we hosted a potluck lunch. It felt right. What better way to consecrate a new home than by sharing food and stories? Twenty of us gathered, each bringing a dish that represented a piece of our own story. The table was a beautiful mosaic of our multicultural community: Korean kimchi jjigae next to Italian pasta, homemade bread beside traditional banchan.
As we ate, we talked about our hopes for the space. It wouldn't just be four walls; it would be a hub for language exchange, cultural workshops, and a place to find support. The spirit of care was already alive, as people naturally helped with setup and cleanup.
That day, filled with the warmth of shared food and shared dreams, our new space truly became a home. It was a declaration that Make A Circle had found its anchor, a place always open to anyone seeking connection and community.
