We See You, We're With You
Life, especially in a new country, can be challenging. Feelings of isolation and depression are real, yet they are often the hardest things to talk about. In February 2024, we wanted to create a space where it was safe to have that difficult conversation.
Our "I'm With You" gathering wasn't a lecture or a workshop; it was a circle of trust. The day began with warm scones and sandwiches, creating a gentle atmosphere. The heart of our time together was listening to Soul Letter, a peer support specialist who shared their own journey with incredible courage and warmth. Their story wasn't about easy answers, but about the real, messy path of recovery.
That vulnerability was a gift. It gave everyone else permission to be vulnerable, too. In the circle of sharing that followed, people spoke of their own struggles. They were met not with judgment, but with quiet understanding and empathy. It was a powerful reminder that the secret to navigating the darkest times is often just having one person who truly listens.
The event ran longer than planned because no one wanted to leave the warmth of that space. It was a beautiful, tangible expression of community care, and a promise that no one has to face their struggles alone.
