An Autumn Day of Arrows and Art
Our late September gathering was a whirlwind of activity, perfectly capturing the dynamic energy of a Korean autumn day. We met at Yeonmudae, the historic military training grounds, for an afternoon of archery. For many, it was their first time holding a bow, but the air buzzed with encouragement. The nervous first shots soon gave way to cheers as arrows found their targets. It was a powerful lesson in how a supportive community can help you discover talents you never knew you had.
After our archery adventure, we moved to an open field for the simple, universal joy of kite flying. As kites soared against the blue sky, we shared a picnic of delivery food, the relaxed atmosphere perfect for sharing stories about our lives in Korea.
Our journey then took us into the vibrant Jidong Mural Village, where art has transformed the neighborhood into a colorful canvas. We wandered the streets, admiring the creativity before settling into a cozy cafe. For those who stayed, the day ended with a spectacular media art show, a cutting-edge display that provided a stunning contrast to the traditional activities we started with. From ancient archery to modern digital art, the day was a beautiful reflection of Korea's ability to honor its past while boldly creating its future.
